We would like to cordially invite you to the launch of the Fashion History Project!
Students of the 20th Century Fashion History & Web Development are taking the power of dress culture and creating a one-of-a-kind exhibit that transcends the boundaries of textbooks and lectures!
Bachelor of Commerce students from the Fashion Management and Digital Business Management programs have teamed up and created an online museum with curated pieces that represent fashion from different cultures and people from around the world. They are breaking free from the usual Eurocentric approaches to explore the incredible diversity in fashion. The project supports Equity, Diversity and Inclusion by reimagining the curriculum and empowering students to express their voices through clothing.
The pieces shown in the online museum are not just about aesthetics. They are either sentimental, ceremonial, or evoke feeling among those who wear them.
Students are also reshaping the museum concept, removing obstacles like physical location and accessibility constraints (e.g. financial limitations preventing visits). This online platform serves as a valuable resource, offering fashion enthusiasts a chance to explore different objects they may not otherwise have access to.
Please join us for the Humber College launch event that will offer a glimpse into the exhibit.
